Lola's 1st vacation-Salem, MA

I was on vacation....I was on vacation.....I was on vacation *tails wags wildly*. Oh hi there! I didn't realize you were still reading my blog from the last entry and was just thinking back about my trip I was on. Last weekend, Aunt Ida and mommy took me on a vacation (that means we went far far away), to the wonderful town of Salem, MA. Before we went away, I spent the afternoon at Bark, Bath & Beyond to get my nails clipped and a professional bath (my 1st professional bath) so I would be all pretty and smell good. Mommy made sure that my suitcase was packed with my bowls, foods, snacks and she even surprised me by packing my two babies (Barry and Tigger!)

We took a long car trip all the way to a big, BIG boat. The boar ride was so much fun as we met these really nice people. They talked with us, and paid me so much attention, the boat ride seemed to go by so fast. Then we drove and drove, and drove some more until it was time to have a light lunch. So we went to McDonalds, and mommy bought me a chicken mc-nugget happy meal as a treat. :o( But she kept the toy. Then we drove a lot longer, but I took a nap for the rest of the way on mommy's lap until we got to Salem, MA and the place we were staying (The Salem Inn.)

Next we hung out in the room a bit, unpacking, resting and I got fed my dinner. I also ran around the inn a bit, checking out the parlor where the finch were (and the sherry) to going across the inn to the other side of the building. As it got later, we walked a few blocks so mommy and Ida could get dinner. They opted for Chinese food, with outdoor seating. Of course I had some Chinese food too, and made tons more friends. We saw some fighter jets fly over head, and then we saw some beautiful fireworks. My Aunt Ida and mommy were so happy that the firework noise did not scare me.

After the fireworks, and talking to grandmom on the phone we went back to the Inn, and had a nightcap of sherry. We were all so tired we conked out in the huge bed. On Saturday we went for breakfast, and sat in a beautiful courtyard as we ate quiche, croissant's, fruit and the other breakfast foods the inn provides. We walked around the streets, looking at beautiful houses which were centuries old. Mommy was a very conciencous visitor, and each time I dirtied, we picked it up with the poopie bags we always carry. Some visitors did not do that. HOW RUDE! Saturday afternoon Aunt Ida and mom went to Gloucester on a whale watch, and I watched an 'I Love Lucy' marathon on tv and napped. When they finally came back, mommy took me on another long walk and we also did some window shopping, picking out the bestest stores we wanted to return to. That night we ate in the room, and mommy went on a foot tour, as Aunt Ida and I stayed in the room, vegging. Saturday night I proweled the inn with mommy a bit, looking for ghosties. I really did sense some stuff, and got mommy scared so our investigation didn't last too long. (I think she was very tired anyway.)

Sunday morning morning we got up very early. We were missing the rest of the family, but really wished we could have stayed in Salem. In the photo to the next, you can see me telling mommy that the room had ghosties in it. Off to breakfast we went, and then did a marathon shopping stopping in several stores, one of course was a WONDERFUL pet shop which gave me fountain water and snacks as we browsed. Mommy bought me a dazzling new red leather coller with 'diamonds' as well as an angel charm which reads 'protect this dog'. Pooka and Cro`i got one each too, but their charms said 'protect this cat.'
Another long car ride to the ferry boat to go home, which I slept on mommy's lap the entire time. Once we got tot he ferry it was so overpacked we had to take a later one. There was minor car troubles but it was resolved. On the ferry ride home, I slept but mommy and AUnt Ida talked to some more nice people I managed to introduce them too. Also some little girls sang me songs, which we thought was very nice. Once we got home, I pounced my brother and sister, like no time had passed without being together. I can't wait to go on another vacation!

I can't believe a whole month has past!

Hi everyone, I hope that you're all enjoying your summer so far. I know that I sure have. Lots have happened since my last post and I apologize for not updating the blog more frequently. But in my short puppy life, so much happens so quickly, that I don't always have time to run to the computer, boot Pooka and Cro`i off of the Internet (because they like to look at kitty-cat sites) to update my blog.

Let's talk about those kitty cats for a minute, and how everyone is adjusting to a home with a puppy these days. As I'm getting older, I am a constant ball of puppy energy-meaning all I want to do is play, play, play. Even though I am small, I am still a bit too much for Aunt Ida who I know loves me. Aunt Ida instead plays only a little with me, shares her breakfast with me and watches Sponge Bob Squarepants with me. (Aunt Ida used to hate Sponge Bob.) Once mommy comes home from work, we'll either play in the backyard or go for a walk around the block. I like to investigate everything! Of course we'll snuggle on the couch too. Grandmom doesn't play with me much unless I greet her at the door or snuggle up on the couch next to her. Then she'll give me belly rubs. I LOVE belly rubs....can't get enough of belly rubs. I am a belly whore! (Or that's what mommy calls me.) Pooka and I have become bestest friends. We play together, and sometimes (as little sisters are known to do) I annoy him a bit. But we actually go in the backyard for a minute to take in the scenery, standing next to one another. Sometimes I gnaw on his ears, and he doesn't even complain. If Pooka escapes the house without permission or Cro`i, I will bark, and herd them in to the house. I do this because I know it is not allowed for them to be outside. Cro`i on the other hand is still not too keen about me. It's because I am so energetic, and as I rush her she gets a bit enrvous. I don't mean to scare her...I just want to give her kisses. If I approach her gently or slowly, she will allow me to kiss her a few times, or she'll kiss me. I guess she just needs more time.

I am almost all housebroken. I still have some accidents, but we're working on this. When Aunt Ida, mommy and I went on vacation (see next post) I did not have any accidents in the room. On July 7th I turned 6 months old.....we didn't have a cake or anything because my birthday fell on a Monday. On Wednesday, July 9th I had to go to have some surgery- I am being spayed so as not to have any puppies. Mommy and everyone say it's better and healthier for me. Plus mommy heard that sometimes pugs have complicated births and need to have cesarian's because of the big puppy heads. So it was decided no puppies for Lola. I also had two puppy teeth yanked out of my mouth, to make room for my big grown up teeth. And that's about it. I'm loved, I love my family...I'm happy, and I bring happiness to everyone who meets me, no joke! Read the other blog about my summer vacation, to Salem, MA.
